  • AM Receiver is an electronic system that receives the amplitude modulated signal and recovers the original message signal

Functions of the Receiver:

  • Process of demodulating the incoming modulated signal
  • Carrier Frequency Tuning
  • Filtering
  • Amplification

Types of AM Receivers:

  • Coherent Receiver (Synchronous Receiver)
  • Non-Coherent Receiver (Asynchronous Receiver)
    • Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) Receiver
    • Super-heterodyne Receiver

Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) Receiver:

  • TRF receiver is a simple logical receiver which consists of RF amplifiers, detectors and audio amplifiers
  • It is used only in single channel low frequency applications
