IMPATT Diode:
- IMPact ionization Avalanche Transit-Time diode: It is a form of high-power semiconductor diode used in high-frequency microwave devices.
- IMPATT diode operates in reverse bias. It exhibits a negative resistance region due to the impact of avalanche and transit time effects.
- They have negative resistance and are used as oscillators and amplifiers at microwave frequencies.
