Radiation Resistance, Antenna Bandwidth & FBR

Radiation Resistance:

  • The radiation resistance represents the radiation by the antenna
  • It is represented as "Rr" - It is the fictitious resistance which will represent the radiation by the antenna.
The value of Rr depends on:
  • Configuration of antenna.
  • The point where radiation resistance is considered
  • Location of the antenna
  • Ratio of length to diameter of the antenna
Antenna Bandwidth:
  • It is defined as the range of frequencies within which the performance of the antenna conforms to a specified standard characteristics.
Front to Back Ratio (FBR):
  • It is the ratio of the power radiated in desired direction to the power radiated in opposite direction.
  • Higher the FBR, better the antenna performance
