Polarization of an Antenna:
- It is defined as the orientation of the wave radiated by the antenna in the far field region
Types of Polarization:
- Linear Polarization
- Vertical Polarization
- Horizontal Polarization
- Circular Polarization
- Elliptical Polarization
Circular Polarization:
- If two linearly polarized waves are simultaneously produced in the same direction from the same antenna, then the circularly polarized waves are produced.
- Conditions for circular polarization:
- Two linearly polarized waves are perpendicular to each other
- Equal amplitude and 90 degree phase difference
Elliptical Polarization:
- Two linearly polarized waves perpendicular to each other
- Amplitudes are not equal
