Microwaves:
- Microwaves are electromagnetic waves with wavelength ranging from 1 cm to 1 mm
- The frequency range is from 1 GHz to 300 GHz
Microwave Frequency Band details are given.
Microwave System:
- Microwave system includes Transmitter Subsystem and Receiver Subsystem
- Transmitter Subsystem includes Microwave source, Attenuator, Transmitting antenna
- Receiver Subsystem includes Receiving Antenna, Amplifier and Detector
Advantages:
- Wider Bandwidth
- Very high speed of operation
- High antenna gain
- Better resolution
- Lower Interference
Disadvantages:
- Microwave components are very expensive
- Use of high speed semiconductors like GaAs, etc.,
- Difficult to design and analyze the microwave circuits
