Discrete Fourier Transform - DFT Pair - Relation between DTFT and DFT

Discrete Fourier Transform is defined only for a finite number of sequence.

DFT can be obtained by sampling the finite number of points over the period of DTFT

Applications of DFT:

  • DFT is the most powerful computational tool to analyze the LTI - Discrete Time Systems
  • It can also be used in Spectral analysis of Digital Signals in computers
