Limit Cycle Oscillation:
- It is a low level oscillation due to the product quantization effects in a stable IIR digital filters (Recursive Filters)
Zero-Input Limit Cycle Oscillation:
- When a stable IIR filter is excited by a constant and finite input signal, the output must decay to zero.
- But it does not occur due to product quantization process which produces the non-linearity behavior in the system operation
- This non-linearity due to the finite precision arithmetic causes periodic oscillation in the output.
- Such oscillation is known as Zero-Input Limit Cycle Oscillation
Dead Band:
- The amplitudes of the limit cycle oscillation are confined into the range of values which is called as "Dead Band".
