Magnitude Comparator - Explanation with an Example

Magnitude Comparator:

  • Magnitude Comparator is a combinational circuit that compares the magnitudes of two binary numbers.
  • Each input is a combination of 'n' bits

Types of Comparator:

  • Single Bit Comparator
  • Two Bit Comparator
  • Four Bit Comparator
Implementation of Comparator:
  • EX-NOR Gate, AND Gate and OR Gates are used  to implement the Comparator circuit.
  • EX-NOR Gate is used to implement whether the two binary digits are equal or not
  • AND Gate is used to find whether a bit is less or greater than an another bit
