Resistors in Parallel - Current Division Rule - Problems solved

Resistors in Parallel Connection:

  • Resistors are connected across one another
  • One terminal of each resistor is connected to form a junction point while the remaining ends are also joined to form a common junction point
  • Voltage source is connected between the junction points and voltage is same across all the resistors
  • Current passing through each resistance is difference and the current is divided depending on the  values of R1, R2,.....Rn
Advantages:
  • All electrical appliances are connected in parallel. Each one of them can be controlled by a separate switch
  • If break occurs in any of the branches, it will not affect the entire circuits
  • Ex: House wiring, etc.,
